The Oyo State Government has officially announced the appointment of 47-year-old Engineer Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the Alaafin-elect, marking a new chapter in the rich history of Oyo town. Prince Owoade, a distinguished member of the Owoade-Agunloye royal family, was chosen to ascend the revered throne of Alaafin, a position that holds immense cultural and historical significance in Yoruba land.

Prince Owoade boasts an impressive academic and professional background, showcasing his dedication to excellence and service. His educational journey began at Baptist High School in Saki, where he laid a solid foundation for his future pursuits.

He progressed to the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, where he obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering. This was followed by a Higher National Diploma (HND) in the same field at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, further solidifying his technical expertise.

To expand his horizons, Prince Owoade pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning, he further earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northumbria University, also in the UK.

Bridging Tradition and Modernity

The Alaafin-elect’s technical proficiency and academic achievements underline his readiness to bridge the traditional values of Oyo Kingdom with modern governance and development strategies. His engineering expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering infrastructural growth, innovation, and sustainable development within the ancient kingdom.

Prince Owoade’s selection is seen as a unifying decision that honors the cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom while ushering in a new era of progressive leadership. As the Alaafin-elect, he is poised to lead the people of Oyo with wisdom, integrity, and a vision for a prosperous future.

The official coronation date is yet to be announced, but the Oyo State Government has urged citizens to rally behind the Alaafin-elect as he prepares to assume his royal duties. His ascension is expected to strengthen the historical ties and cultural pride of the Yoruba people while promoting peace and development across the region.

Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade’s journey to the throne reflects a harmonious blend of tradition, education, and innovation, making him a beacon of hope for the Oyo Kingdom.
