In a media parley held on Tuesday, July 30th, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, proudly showcased a comprehensive list of his administration’s accomplishments during his first three years in office. The event, organized to commemorate his administration’s three-year milestone, highlighted the remarkable progress made under the “HEEDS Agenda,” which focuses on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, sports, and empowerment.
Prince Usman reported that his administration has achieved an unprecedented feat with the completion of 38 out of 54 road projects within three years, amounting to a remarkable 70% completion rate. This achievement signifies that, on average, one road project was completed every month, fulfilling a key promise of his HEEDS Agenda. In total, 81 major infrastructural projects have been initiated, underscoring the council’s commitment to urban regeneration.
The chairman’s outstanding performance in infrastructure has not gone unnoticed. An independent media research team, comprising units from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, praised Prince Usman for setting a new standard in local government administration in Ifako-Ijaiye. The team recognized him as the first executive chairman to achieve such a significant milestone in infrastructural regeneration since the creation of the local government area.
In the healthcare sector, significant strides have been made. The free grassroots health outreach program has benefited 7,639 residents across 55 centers, providing essential medical services and care. Furthermore, all primary health centres in the local government area have been renovated and equipped with multimillion-naira medical equipment, ensuring better healthcare delivery for the community.
The administration’s commitment to development continues with several ongoing capital projects. These include the construction of the Kingmakers Sports Complex, a mini-stadium aimed at promoting sports and youth engagement, a new legislative building to accommodate council operations, and the total reconstruction of administrative offices at the Iju Area Office
Beyond infrastructure and healthcare, Prince Usman’s administration has placed a strong emphasis on empowering the local populace. Over 5,000 residents have benefited from various empowerment initiatives, receiving training tools and startup capital. These programs aim to boost economic fortunes and improve the quality of life for residents.
