The Presidency has debunked rumours that its appointments always largely favours the North as insinuated by a BusinessDay report which said that 81 out of Buhari’s 100 political appointees are from the North.
A spokesman for the Presidency, Mr. Femi Adesina said “To claim, suggest or attempt to insinuate that the President’s appointments are tilted in favour of a section of the country is simply untrue and certainly uncharitable,”
Adesina said “From all records, majority of the President’s appointees across different portfolios are not from the North, as the publication erroneously alleged,”
In order to validate his claims, Mr. Adesina further revealed via a graphical illustration the distribution of appointments made by the presidency.
According to the chart, Ogun state had 21 appointments which was the highest figure. Following Ogun state in second place where Imo and Kano states which had 15 political appointees each.
Edo state and Katsina- the president’s state had 14 appointees each to come in at third place.
