Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Monday took centre stage at the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit (CTIS) 2025, where he led a high-level Governors’ Roundtable focused on unlocking investment opportunities in Lagos and reinforcing its position as a leading destination for international business and innovation.
The roundtable, attended by influential investors, policymakers, and business leaders from across the Commonwealth, provided a strategic platform for Governor Sanwo-Olu to share the Lagos success story and highlight the State’s ambitious drive to attract sustainable investments across key sectors such as technology, infrastructure, finance, real estate, and the creative economy.
In his keynote address, Governor Sanwo-Olu affirmed Lagos State’s role as Africa’s largest and most dynamic city, boasting a thriving ecosystem driven by innovation, resilience, and a bold economic vision.
“We have solidified Lagos’s position as Africa’s largest city and a thriving centre for innovation, finance, and creativity,” he said. “Our aim has always been to drive economic growth and attract investment across key sectors. We have made great strides by fostering a supportive regulatory framework and significantly improving our infrastructure to meet global standards.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu further stressed the critical role of the private sector in the State’s ongoing transformation, describing it as the engine room of Lagos’s development trajectory.
“A resilient and ambitious private sector is at the heart of Lagos’s growth,” he noted. “We need to continue building the right environment: access to credit, reliable infrastructure, supportive regulations, and public sector responsiveness. Our role as a government is to listen, enable, and support when needed.”
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to deepening partnerships that will accelerate inclusive growth and create a future-ready Lagos. He emphasised that with the right strategic alliances, Lagos is well positioned to not only lead the African continent in innovation and development but also to compete successfully on the global stage.
“Lagos is open for business. With the right partnerships, we will continue to lead in Africa and thrive in the global economy,” Sanwo-Olu concluded.
The CTIS 2025 Roundtable reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that attracts top-tier investors, fosters enterprise, and transforms the socio-economic landscape for its over 20 million residents.
