Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will host his counterparts from the South West geopolitical zone today , February 13, 2025, at Lagos House, Ikeja, for a high-level meeting of the South West Governors’ Forum.
The forum, which serves as a platform for regional collaboration, will deliberate on key issues of common interest, including agriculture, food security, economic development, and security. The meeting is expected to foster synergy among the six South West states to drive sustainable growth, enhance security strategies, and strengthen inter-state partnerships.
A crucial part of the discussions will focus on security of lives and property, as the region continues to explore innovative strategies to address challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, and other threats to peace and stability. Additionally, the governors will review progress on economic initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure development, investment opportunities, and job creation across the region.
This upcoming meeting follows a similar engagement held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, where Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the Forum. His leadership has since been instrumental in driving collective action on various developmental issues affecting the South West.
The gathering is expected to yield far-reaching resolutions that will further cement the region’s position as an economic powerhouse within Nigeria.
