Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will officially present the Year 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly today, Thursday, November 21, 2024. The presentation, scheduled for 12 noon, underscores the administration’s commitment to sustaining the momentum of growth and development in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso. According to the statement, the proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Sustainability”, serves as a strategic framework for continuity, resilience and prosperity. It aims to consolidate on the achievements of previous fiscal plans while addressing emerging socio-economic challenges.
The budget is structured around five critical pillars that align with the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda which include Infrastructure Sustainability – ensuring the maintenance and expansion of world-class infrastructure, Economic Diversification – fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and private sector growth and nstitutional Reforms – driving efficiency and transparency in governance and public service delivery.
Mr. Omotoso noted that the proposed budget will likely surpass the N2.3 trillion appropriated for 2024, reflecting the ambition of the Sanwo-Olu administration to accelerate Lagos’ transformation into a 21st-century economy.
Governor Sanwo-Olu is expected to highlight key developmental initiatives and projects that the budget will prioritize, including ongoing infrastructural works, advancements in health and education sectors, enhanced security measures and youth empowerment programs.
This presentation marks a significant milestone in Lagos State’s journey toward achieving sustainable growth and ensuring an improved quality of life for all residents.
The event will take place at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, and will be attended by key stakeholders, members of the executive council and legislative leaders.
