SENATE PRESIDENCY: YARI STILL RECALCITRANT.

Abdulaziz Yari, a former two-term governor of Zamfara State and a Senator-elect is still digging in to clinch the position of Senate President.

It didn’t matter to him that PEFERN has said it in so many words without really saying it that Godswill Obot Akpabio is his choice to lead the 10th Senate.

It’s inconsequential to him that not only had virtually all the other contestants for the Number 3 seat stepped down for the former uncommon Akwa Ibom State governor in deference to PEFERN but that more than 50 Senators-elect had publicly declared their support for him.

Yari certainly couldn’t be bothered that major power centers such as Ganduje, Al Makura, Umahi, Ndimi, and so forth had appeared on TV that Akpabio has their support to be the President of the 10th Senate.

Yet, Yari continues to pontificate and grandstand.

He said he will not step down for anyone.

“The Senate presidency is senators’ business and on D-Day when we are going to elect our president, we will do the needful,” he intoned.

He said, “We are doing what the constitution says that we should take our leader within ourselves” as if the one who will be the president of the Senate is from Mars.

The question then is if Abdulaziz Yari is already in a hole in his senate presidential ambition, why is he still digging? The answer can be located in the precinct of the cabals.

He’s being goaded by them just as they goaded many aspirants that they were the anointed before the presidential primary until they found out (by then it was already too late) that they were individually sold a dummy.

They were grinning from ear to ear then as they were led into the slaughter slab. They realized late in the game that what they had all along was a damp squib. So, who will tell Yari that he’s gullibly been led into a slaughter slab by the cabals? They’re giving him the false hope that this time they can pull a rabbit out of a hat with a replay of the 2015 Saraki/Dogara perfidy.

Yari is not adequately equipped to shoulder the responsibility and expectations that await the 10th Senate because this PEFERN needs presiding officers who can think on their toes. Yari cannot deploy sufficient mental exertion because he’s chronically unlettered. Please do not say I told you. He cannot shoulder this kind of responsibility and his colleagues know this. It is only the dog that wants to be lost that will not hear the whistle of its master.

PEFERN has blown the whistle. Let those who love this country and her progress follow where the sound leads. Abdulaziz Yari should not be deaf to the sound of the whistle. A word is enough for the wise!
