The Senate has set up a committee to investigate the assault by one of its senators on a nursing mother in Abuja.

It will be recalled that in a viral video, the Senator at the center of the controversy, Elisha Abbo of the PDP representing Adamawa North Senatorial District had been captured on CCTV footage in a sex toy shop assaulting a woman.

Abbo, who is the youngest senator in the country had gone into the shop with three young women to purchase adult toys, one of whom later took ill and vomited multiple times.

The shop owner reprimanded her and said she ought to have gone outside to vomit, however the Senator did not take too kindly to this reprimand on one of his companion and things degenerated to the point of him assaulting someone in the shop.

In the wake of the outcry generated by the viral video, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has thus set up a panl to investigate the matter.

Members of the panel include Senator Sam Egwu, the former governor of Ebonyi state as the head of the panel, Senators Oluremi Tinubu, Mathew Urhoghide, Stella Oduah, Dauda Aliu Jika, Sani Musa and Danladi Sankara.

They are expected to investigate the matter and submit their report withing two weeks.
