In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, Sporting Lagos Football Academy of Nigeria triumphed over FC Tokyo of Japan with a resounding 4-0 victory to claim the championship at the 2024 U17 Gothia Cup. The thrilling final match took place at the historic Gamla Ullevi stadium, cementing Sporting Lagos’ reputation as a rising force in youth football.

The match saw Sporting Lagos seize control early, with Y. Abdullahi opening the scoring in the 8th minute. The momentum continued just three minutes later when T. Akomolede doubled the lead, leaving FC Tokyo struggling to keep up with the pace and precision of their Nigerian opponents.

The second half showcased the exceptional talent of J. Lucky, who netted two goals in quick succession at the 54th and 59th minutes, further solidifying Sporting Lagos’ dominance. Despite FC Tokyo’s efforts to mount a comeback, the defense of Sporting Lagos remained impenetrable, ensuring a clean sheet and a decisive victory.

This remarkable win not only highlights the prowess of Sporting Lagos FA but also underscores the growing talent within Nigerian youth football. The team’s performance throughout the tournament has been nothing short of spectacular, demonstrating their dedication, hard work, and passion for the sport.

Congratulations to Sporting Lagos FA on their well-deserved victory and for bringing pride to their nation. This triumph at the Gothia Cup is a testament to the bright future of Nigerian football and the potential of its young athletes.
