Popular Gospel actor and evangelist, Mike Bamiloye, recently shared a story on his Facebook page, highlighting a growing issue in churches: immodest dressing. Bamiloye expressed worry about how some Christian sisters dress without considering the feelings of others, especially men in the church.
He recounted a story of a young man serving in the East during his Youth Service who stopped going to church. He said, “A young man who had gone on Youth Service in the east called his father and told him he was not going to church again, but reading his Bible at home. His father asked him why would he take such a wrong decision. He said, each time he went to the church, he came back with his heart corrupted by the sisters in the church who dressed up in a way that made them care less if the brothers would fall or not.”
The young man felt uncomfortable with the revealing outfits worn by some church sisters, which distracted him during worship. He explained to his father that he didn’t want his heart to be influenced negatively by what he saw in church.
Bamiloye pointed out the increasing trend of tight-fitting clothes and shorter skirts among churchgoers, which he believes can lead to spiritual harm. He urged people to dress in a way that honors God, rather than focusing on pleasing themselves or following worldly trends.
In essence, Bamiloye calls for modesty and respect within the church community as he urged people to prioritize their spiritual well-being over fashion trends, encouraging them to dress in a manner that reflects their devotion to God.
