In a demonstration of loyalty and commitment to the advancement of grassroots sports in Nigeria, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, popularly known as “Sulu,” newly appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, paid a courtesy visit to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Accompanying Hon. Adeboye were key stakeholders in the nation’s sports sector, including the Director-General of the National Sports Commission and its Chairman, Shehu Dikko. The visit underscored the administration’s focus on repositioning sports as a unifying force and a driver of socio-economic growth in Nigeria.

During the meeting, Zulu Authority expressed his profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust reposed in him through this critical appointment. He described the role as both an honor and a call to duty, emphasizing his readiness to align with the President’s vision of using grassroots sports as a tool for fostering national unity, nurturing untapped talents, and driving youth engagement.

Hon. Adeboye pledged to champion innovative initiatives that would strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure and provide opportunities for young athletes to thrive. He outlined his commitment to creating a robust pipeline of talent discovery and development, ultimately contributing to Nigeria’s prominence on the global sports stage.

President Tinubu, in his remarks, reiterated his administration’s dedication to youth development and commended Hon. Adeboye for his enthusiasm and passion for sports. He charged him and the National Sports Commission leadership to work collaboratively in creating impactful programs that would not only identify talents but also build a sustainable framework for sports development in the country.

The visit ended on a high note, with assurances from all parties to drive Nigeria’s sports sector to greater heights, starting from the grassroots level. This engagement is expected to mark the beginning of transformative initiatives aimed at revitalizing sports as a cornerstone of national unity and development.
