The Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi recently hosted the leadership and entourage of the Dr. Bello Oyakhilome Foundation from the United States of America (USA) at the Commission’s headquaters in Abuja.
During the private engagement, the Founder/ Progenitor of the Bello Oyakhilome Foundation, an outreach established for humanitarian purposes, Hon. Bello Oyakhilome who also doubles as the Youth Leader, All Progressives Congress (APC), United States of America (USA) Chapter expressed appreciation to his host, the ECN Director General for giving his foundation and team an opportunity to rub minds together on possible synergy and collaboration.
The discussion between the visiting team and the Energy Commission boss, inter alia, centred around possible exploitation of the energy sector beyond its current thresholds. While speaking on the place of energy and the country’s challenges on electricity and power generation.
Hon. Oyakhilome who averred renewable energy has a huge potential to address the country’s needs in power generation, said his foundation had trained over 100 youths on solar panel and biogas production. He further affirmed that he decided to have a one-on-one with the Director-General to seek collaboration with the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) on a possible synergy to develop more renewable energy sources.
Speaking further, and extensively, on how the Federal Government could explore the potential of biogas production and supply, more importantly to explore and exploit the country’s energy wherewithal that would ultimately grow the economy, Hon. Oyakhilome submitted that his foundation plans to invest more in biogas and solar energy production beyond its current capacity.
“Our foundation is working on taking this project on renewable energy production to rural communities as doing so would help families which can hardly afford electricity bills in their various communities. We believe this is another way to help the masses contribute their quota from their various enclaves to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. We are working behind the scenes to increase our current capacity.” The APC Youth Leader, USA Chapter enthused.
DG of ECN, Dr Mustapha Abdullah in his speech to Hon Bello Oyakhilomhe and his entourage said the Energy Commission is opened to partnerships and collaborative efforts with groups, platforms, and stakeholders aimed at consolidating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolve to rewrite Nigeria’s history. That he is ever willing to ensure the Commission’s readiness and willingness to collaborate for the greater good of the country and her citizenry.
“The mandate is clear. The agenda is defined. It is for every player, every appointee and everyone who believes in the vision of Mr. President to rewrite Nigeria’s history, define a new path, and embark on a voyage of new positive discovery in the art of governance, to engage in policies, programmes and actions that will consolidate these moves by Mr. President.
“As a Commission therefore, keying into the vision of the Renewed Hope administration, we are poised to embrace every partnership and collaborations that will further accentuate this goal.” Dr Mustapha Abdullah concluded.
