More than a 100 thugs invaded the Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday and disrupted the proceedings of the assembly.

According to reports several lawmakers were attacked with one of them being completely stripped naked by the rampaging thugs who arrived the House at the start of its session and proceeded to descend on the members.

Elder Friday Makama representing Igalamala/Odolu who had just returned back to the house after his six months suspension had been nullified by the courts was thoroughly beaten up and stripped naked by the thugs.

The security officers attached to the House of assembly were unable to do much to curtail the activities of the thugs, as some of them took to their heels to escape the violence.

The Speaker, Imam Umar Ahmed, other lawmakers and security aides attached to the principal officers of the House took to their heels to escape being beaten by the rampaging thugs.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Imam Umar Ahmed expressed his shock over the incident. He described it as an act of hooliganism which should not be found in politics.

He further promised that the House would set up an investigative panel to look into the cause of the incident.

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello speaking through his Director General for Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo also further condemned the incident saying efforts would be made to bring those behind the incident to book.
