I cannot but appreciate those who gave the wings for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fly as the flagbearer and presidential candidate of our great party, The All Progressives’ Congress (APC), in the just-concluded primaries.
I want to thank political allies, party loyalists, friends and supporters for, though burning the candle at both ends, relentlessly pursued the worthy cause of our party and Asiwaju’s.
I gratefully acknowledge Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, for his tremendous support over the course of the primaries. As always, he not only showed that he is a staunch believer of strong democratic principles which form the bedrock of BAT’s political ideologies, but also the fact that he was truly schooled by our political honcho, the BAT himself.
Special thanks to Sen. Kashim Shettima, ex-governor, Borno State for never shying away from his responsibility as a party representative. With his apparent show of selflessness at the primaries, he proved that ethnicity has nothing to do with your loyalty both to the party and to our presidential candidate. Indeed, he was there when and where it mattered.
Governors Gboyega Oyetola, Aminu Bello Masari, Babagana Umara Zulum, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Bello Muhammed and , Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,I am indebted to your unwavering support and magnanimity demonstrated before and during the primaries. Without your enormous confidence invested in Asiwaju, he would not have clinched the ticket.
I am truly grateful to all presidential aspirants who bowed out of the ring for Asiwaju, allowing true democracy to take its natural cause. You have made history, and your gallantry will always be remembered.
Having said that, as progressives, it is our collective responsibility to overcome the hurdles, first of which was cleared on Tuesday, 7 June 2022, ensuring that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our party’s flagbearer, is declared president come 2023 general elections.
In pursuit of our lofty dreams, we need to exude strength and comradeship, thereby placing our party on a pedestal and, in the end, building a nation that is worth living in.
Long live, Nigeria!
Long live, The All Progressives’ Congress of Nigeria!
Hon. Toyin Aremu aka OMOAREMU,
Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, Mushin Constituency 02
