The United States Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos have officially announced a transition to a new visa services provider, marking a significant update in the visa application process for Nigerians. The change was revealed through an official statement on the embassy’s website, outlining important details for applicants.
In the announcement, it was noted that for those with non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled on or before August 16, 2024, no additional actions are necessary. Applicants can continue accessing their accounts on the existing platform, ustraveldocs.com, to check appointment details and seek customer support when needed.
However, for visa interviews scheduled on or after August 26, 2024, applicants are required to utilize the new visa services platform, which is already operational. This updated site will handle all aspects of the visa process, including fee payments, appointment scheduling, and customer service inquiries.
A statement on the new official website, www.usvisaappt.com, reads: “We have moved to a new visa services provider! You can now schedule interview appointments on the new website.” The enhanced platform allows users to create accounts, pay visa application fees, and schedule appointments seamlessly. Additionally, information services for U.S. visa applicants and American citizens are now available to offer support.
The website also highlights a new online chat feature designed to provide quick responses to applicants’ questions. Operational hours and contact methods can be found on the Contact Us page.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs emphasizes that the Embassy’s Consular Post and the Bureau’s official website remain the primary sources for accurate visa-related information. Further details can be accessed via https://ng.usembassy.gov/.
