9th National Assembly: More Than 60 Senators Backing Lawan

As the race heats up for the emergence of the new leadership for the National Assembly, the campaign organisation for Ahmed Lawan has disclosed that more than 60 senators-elect have endorsed their candidate.

The secretary of the organisation, Barau Jibrin who disclosed the names to journalists at Transcorp Hilton Abuja said, 60 out of the APC Senators and 1 member from the Young Peoples Party (YPP) had endorsed their candidate.

Concerning the main opposition party, the PDP, Senator Ahmed Lawan himself has indicated that he is sure of getting some extra votes from them as well.

It will be recalled that Senator Danjuma Goje one of his opposition for the exalted seat of Senate president also earlier withdrew from the race and declared his support for Ahmed Lawan.
