Due to the poor state of Rotimi Akeredolu’s health, a group of lawyers and concerned citizens of Ondo State have written to the Ondo State Executive Council to declare the Governor unfit to continue as the Governor of the State.

The group of legal practitioners stated that they made the call in line with section 189 of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended), emphasizing that the prolonged unavailability of the governor had affected the socio-economic development of the state.

Part of the statement made available to newsmen read, “Some lawyers of Ondo State origin have demanded the Ondo State Executive Council to comply with the provisions of Section 189 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) by declaring that the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN is incapacitated and unable to perform the functions of his office.”
