Arsenal kept their Premier League title charge alive with a gritty 1-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium, going five points clear at the top thanks to a late VAR call.
From kickoff, Arsenal controlled possession and pinned West Ham back. The Hammers sat deep and hit on the counter, making it a frustrating contest for the Gunners. Chances came and went until the 83rd minute, when super-sub Leandro Trossard finished a low cross from Martin Ødegaard to break the deadlock.
West Ham thought they’d snatched a point in stoppage time when Callum Wilson bundled the ball home from a corner in the 90+5th minute. But VAR intervened after spotting a foul on goalkeeper David Raya during the scramble. After a lengthy review, the goal was overturned and Arsenal’s lead stood.
The result gives Arsenal a critical advantage with only two games left, putting pressure back on Manchester City in the title race. For West Ham, the loss leaves them deeper in the relegation fight.
