At 60, milestones are not just counted in years, but in legacies. Today, we, Wasiu Akewusola, Bola Babarinde, and Yinka Ogunlewe celebrate a man we are privileged to call friend, brother, and Governor: Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State.

Our journey together began over four decades ago at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Victoria Island, where the four of us, Babajide, Wasiu, Yinka, and Bola formed a close-knit bond. Back then, we shared everything: ideas, laughter, aspirations, and youthful dreams on that small but vibrant campus.

Though life eventually took us on different academic paths, Wasiu to Obafemi Awolowo University, while Babajide, Yinka, and Bola headed to University of Lagos in various faculties (Land Surveying and Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, and Applied Physics respectively), our friendship remained unbroken.

Today, we’re all over 60, but it’s you, Babajide, who celebrates the blessed day you came into this world 60 years ago. We are immensely proud to mark this occasion with you, not just because you hold public office, but because you have remained the same loyal friend with a heart of gold.

You have brought honor to our circle through your service, your values, and your unshaken faith. That same God you serve diligently continues to guide you, and we pray He will never leave your side. May today not be the peak of your celebration, but a gateway to even greater things ahead.

As your childhood friends, we offer these heartfelt tributes:

From Wasiu Akewusola (Permanent Secretary, Retired):
“Mr. Governor, I appreciate you on this occasion of your 60th birthday. Thank you for the opportunity you gave me to serve Lagos State as a Permanent Secretary, something I hold dear and will never forget. I wish you many more fruitful years, long life, good health, and peace. Enjoy the rest of your life in whichever capacity you desire after this remarkable tenure. Happy birthday, my friend and brother.”

From Yinka Ogunlewe:
“Today, we celebrate an extraordinary leader, a visionary, and a man of unwavering dedication. Sixty is not just a number, it’s a testament to grace and purpose. Your journey has been full of impact, compassion, and excellence. May God continue to grant you strength, joy, and fulfillment. May your legacy shine even brighter. Happy 60th birthday, Babajide, and many more glorious years in divine favor.”

From Bola Babarinde:
“Ore mi Olowo! I remember clearly the day you called me that at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, as I was on my way back to South Africa. You later invited me to Marina, where in a quiet moment you encouraged me to come home and contribute to our great party. I took that advice to heart, and I have no regrets. Thank you for being a true brother and leader. I wish you continued success, greater accomplishments, and a future that keeps getting brighter. Happy birthday, my dear friend.”

We are honored to celebrate this day with you, Babajide. You are a worthy ambassador of our friendship, and we remain proud to walk this life’s journey with you.

Happy 60th Birthday!
With love and respect,
Wasiu, Bola, and Yinka
Your Friends for Life.
