The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja has adopted Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu as the consensus candidate for Ikeja Constituency II ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly election, in a move widely described as a major political development within the party’s structure in the constituency.
The decision was reportedly reached after extensive consultations among party leaders, stakeholders, ward executives and key members of the APC family in Ikeja, who unanimously agreed to rally behind Kasunmu as the preferred choice to fly the party’s flag for the coveted legislative seat.
Party leaders led by Hon James Abiodun Faleke disclosed that the consensus arrangement was aimed at fostering unity, strengthening internal cohesion and ensuring a smooth electoral process within the constituency, while positioning the APC for victory in the general election.
Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu, the Deputy Majority Leader and a grassroots politician known for his loyalty to the party and active involvement in community development initiatives, was said to have received overwhelming support from party faithful across the wards in Ikeja Constituency II.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, party leaders described Kasunmu as a competent, experienced and people-oriented figure with the capacity to effectively represent the interests of constituents at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Supporters and APC members who gathered at the venue of the consensus meeting in Blue Roof at LTV8 erupted in jubilation following the announcement, expressing confidence that Kasunmu would sustain the progressive ideals of the party and deliver quality representation to the people of Ikeja Constituency II.
Political observers believe the emergence of Hon. Kasunmu through consensus may further consolidate the APC’s dominance in Ikeja politics, especially as preparations intensify for the next phase of the electoral process in Lagos State.
