The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command. The decision was made today, Monday, February 17, 2025, following a review process led by senior officials of the Commission.
Prior to his new appointment, CP Jimoh served as the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority, Eastern Ports, where he was instrumental in strengthening security operations and improving policing strategies in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
An indigene of Kwara State, CP Jimoh has held several strategic positions in the Nigeria Police Force, including:
- Force Public Relations Officer, where he managed the public image and communications of the force.
- Deputy Commissioner, Airport Police, overseeing security operations at Nigeria’s airports.
- Deputy Commissioner, Finance and Administration, contributing to the force’s financial and human resource management.
- Deputy Commissioner, General Investigation, handling high-profile criminal investigations.
CP Jimoh is a highly trained officer with extensive local and international exposure in law enforcement. He has undergone specialized training in various fields, including:
- Combat Operations Course – Mobile Training College, Maiduguri.
- African Union Mission Training – Darfur, Sudan.
- Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure Training – First Responder Training Institute, USA.
- Social Construction and Management Reform – China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong, China.
- Maritime Rescue and Salvage for Developing Countries – China Maritime Academy, Ningbo, China.
- Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics for Developing Countries – Yunnan Police College, Kunming, China.
- Police Training Institute – Seoul, South Korea.
CP Jimoh’s outstanding contributions to law enforcement and public relations have earned him several commendations. Notably, he is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, conferred by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in recognition of his exemplary leadership in police-community engagement.
The appointment was finalized after CP Jimoh appeared before the Police Service Commission for screening and confirmation. The session was presided over by PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), mni, alongside Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (Rtd), a former Supreme Court Justice and Honorable Commissioner representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, Honorable Commissioner representing the Police.
With his wealth of experience, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh is expected to lead the Lagos State Police Command in tackling security challenges and enhancing law enforcement efficiency in Nigeria’s most populous state.
