The continued attacks on Professor Wole Soyinka by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and Peter Obi’s spokesman only confirm what the Nobel laureate said. That Peter Obi himself coordinated the trolling, insults, abuses, and threats. And why would Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed say “he can destroy Soyinka”? Is he God?

If Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was so powerful and could destroy anyone, why did he not destroy Bola Tinubu and win the 2023 election for himself and Obi? It is unfortunate that Peter Obi has chosen confrontation instead of cooperation and collaboration as a way of advancing his political objectives. We will see how that will benefit him in 2027.

As for Peter Obi’s spokesman, who said that Wole Soyinka has no future, I urge him to remember how a particular supporter of Peter Obi had mocked President Muhammadu Buhari, who was then afflicted with ill health. Buhari finished his eight-year tenure and left Aso Rock looking younger than when he arrived in 2015. But the young man died before Buhari could finish his tenure.

Nobody knows tomorrow, and only God knows who will have a future and who will not. Again, no man can ‘destroy’ whom God had not destroyed.
