Nigerian singer Davido is set to feature on King Charles III’s Commonwealth Music playlist, a unique collection of songs from across the Commonwealth. The playlist, which will be showcased in a new Apple Music show called “The King’s Music Room,” reflects the British monarch’s eclectic musical tastes ¹.

Recorded in his Buckingham Palace office, the show will air on March 10 in commemoration of Commonwealth Day. The playlist spans various genres, including disco, reggae, and Afrobeats, featuring iconic artists such as Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, and Grace Jones, alongside contemporary talents like Davido and Raye ².

King Charles III, who is the Head of the Commonwealth, describes the playlist as the soundtrack of his life. “Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others,” he said. The King hopes that sharing his favorite songs will bring joy to others and serve as a celebration of Commonwealth Day ³.

Davido’s inclusion on the playlist marks another milestone in his global recognition, solidifying his influence on the international music scene. The show promises to offer a unique glimpse into the King’s musical tastes and his personal connection to the songs featured ².

“The King’s Music Room” will premiere on Apple Music 1 at 6 a.m. GMT on March 10, with additional radio broadcasts available on Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Hits throughout Monday and Tuesday ³.
