The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State has arrested popular TikTok star, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, for allegedly mutilating and abusing the Naira. Specifically, Kunya is accused of spraying money at events, which is a violation of Nigerian law.
A source within the EFCC confirmed to Freedom Radio Kano that Kunya is currently in EFCC custody. This arrest is part of the commission’s intensified crackdown on individuals who engage in the indiscriminate spraying of money at parties and birthday celebrations.
Recently, the EFCC also arrested other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on similar charges. However, neither the EFCC nor Kunya’s legal representatives have issued an official statement regarding the matter.
It’s worth noting that Kunya was previously arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board in February 2024 for alleged immorality. The Hisbah Board accused her of engaging in immoral acts, including going out with someone at a particular time of the day. However, many Nigerians criticized the arrest, arguing that it was an infringement on her personal freedom.
