Dr. Ahmed Ibeto, Nigeria’s newly appointed High Commissioner to South Africa has asked Nigerian citizens who live in South Africa to endeavor to abide by the laws of the country.
He said abiding with the laws of their host country and communities would foster cooperation between them and other South Africans.
The new High Commissioner said this during the reception held for him in South Africa.
Ibeto said “They are called upon to engage in activities that are lawful, by doing that, I am sure we are going to have cooperation and we will not have a clash with our host community, South Africa, so this we impress on our people, to engage in lawful businesses and also ensure that they abide by the laws.”
The new High Commissioner also said the core areas of cooperation he would focus on during his tenure would include improving the scope of engagement with government and the business sector, as well as promoting investment in mining, agriculture, and tourism.
Dr. Ahmed Ibeto, who had previously served as a former deputy governor in Niger state from 2007-2015, is Nigeria’s first substantive High Commissioner to South Africa in about three years.
