
Nigeria’s Falconets have reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after a convincing 3-0 victory over England.
Tosin Rafiu put Nigeria ahead in the eighth minute before Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei doubled the lead two minutes into the second half.
Mary Mamudu completed the scoring in the 73rd minute as the Falconets secured their second win of the tournament.
Captain Christiana Uzoma also played a key role in the victory, saving Rachel Maltby’s first-half penalty to preserve Nigeria’s advantage.
The result takes Nigeria’s goals tally to 13 in four matches. The Falconets have recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat at the tournament, while keeping two clean sheets.
Nigeria will return to action in the quarter-finals on September 20, 2026, against either Poland or Colombia at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź in Łódź.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30pm WAT.
