In a significant development aimed at improving the welfare of youth corps members, the Federal Government has announced the approval of an increase in the monthly stipend for participants of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (N77,000). This increment, which will take effect from July 2024, marks a substantial boost from the previous allowance.

The move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the socio-economic well-being of Nigerian youths and strengthen the NYSC program, which plays a crucial role in national unity and development. According to official sources, the adjustment in stipends reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the rising cost of living and providing better support to corps members during their service year.

The new allowance is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of corps members across the country and improve their overall service experience. The government has expressed confidence that this step will further motivate youths participating in the national scheme and contribute to their productive engagement in various sectors during the mandatory one-year service.
