Residents of Katsina State were thrown into disbelief following the arrest of Alhaji Nuru Aliyu Garwa, a former Senior Special Adviser on Community Development to the Katsina State Governor, over alleged involvement in banditry and kidnapping activities.
Garwa was reportedly arrested alongside six suspected bandits in connection with the abduction of schoolchildren on May 23, 2026.

Security sources disclosed that the suspects allegedly collected N50 million ransom from families before the victims regained freedom.
The shocking revelation has sparked outrage across the state, with many expressing concern over the alleged double life of a man once entrusted with public responsibility. What appeared to be a respected political career has now been overshadowed by allegations linking the former aide to violent criminal operations terrorising innocent citizens.
Investigators reportedly uncovered vital intelligence connecting the former government official to the kidnapping syndicate, leading to a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
The development has intensified public debate over the growing nexus between politics and insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria where banditry and abductions have continued to threaten lives and disrupt communities.
Many residents described the incident as a betrayal of public trust, calling for a comprehensive investigation into possible collaborators and sponsors behind the criminal network.
Security agencies have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that everyone connected to the crime will face the full weight of the law.
