The Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has reassured residents of the council area of the administration’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property following growing concerns over the recent influx of certain groups of individuals into some communities within the local government.

In a public security advisory issued to residents, the council chairman acknowledged reports and concerns raised by community members regarding the presence and movements of unfamiliar persons in parts of Ibeju-Lekki. He emphasized that the local government has taken the situation seriously and has promptly engaged relevant security agencies to assess and address the concerns.
According to Hon. Olowa, security authorities at both the state and local levels have been fully briefed on the development and are actively monitoring the situation. He disclosed that intelligence gathering and other proactive security measures have already been deployed to ensure that peace, law, and order are maintained across the rapidly developing coastal corridor.
The chairman noted that while security challenges remain a national concern, residents have a critical role to play in supporting efforts aimed at safeguarding communities. He therefore urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities, unusual movements, or security-related concerns through the appropriate channels for immediate investigation and response.
Hon. Olowa, however, cautioned against acts of vigilantism, mob action, ethnic profiling, harassment, or intimidation of any individual or group. He stressed that matters relating to security should be left in the hands of duly authorized security agencies, which possess the legal authority and operational capacity to investigate and respond appropriately.
The council boss further appealed for calm and restraint, urging residents to continue their lawful daily activities without fear while maintaining a heightened sense of awareness. He reiterated that the local government remains in constant collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders to preserve the peaceful atmosphere that has characterized Ibeju-Lekki despite its rapid population growth and economic expansion.
“As a government, the safety and security of our people remain our highest priority. We will continue to work closely with all relevant agencies to ensure that Ibeju-Lekki remains safe, peaceful, and secure for residents, investors, and visitors alike,” the chairman stated.
The advisory comes amid increasing public discussions on security across various parts of the country, with local authorities emphasizing the importance of community cooperation, intelligence sharing, and adherence to the rule of law as essential tools for maintaining public safety.
Residents have been encouraged to remain law-abiding, avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, and continue supporting collective efforts aimed at preserving peace and stability within the local government area.
