In a startling incident at the Federal College of Education (FCE) Bichi, an unidentified man managed to deceive a group of first-year students, making off with their phones. The imposter entered a classroom of NCE 1 freshers, claiming to be their lecturer.
The man began by announcing an impromptu test, explaining that it was a measure to assess their understanding of the course material. To prevent cheating, he insisted on collecting the students’ phones. Trusting his apparent authority, the students complied.
After distributing the test papers, he seized several phones and instructed the class representative to collect the completed tests and bring them to his office. He then left the room, taking the phones with him.
It was only after some time had passed that the students realized something was amiss. Efforts to locate the supposed lecturer proved futile, and it became clear they had been duped.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security and the verification of staff credentials within the institution. Authorities at FCE Bichi have launched an investigation to identify the culprit and recover the stolen phones. They have also urged students to be vigilant and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a member of the faculty.
This incident underscores the need for stringent security measures in educational institutions to prevent such occurrences in the future.
