History was made today as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Nigeria, marking his first official visit to the country and the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 2007. This significant visit underscores the deepening ties between the two nations and promises to bolster their longstanding partnership.

Upon his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received. In his arrival message, he said, “I am grateful for the warm welcome. May this visit deepen the bilateral friendship between both nations.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a heartfelt welcome message to the Indian Prime Minister, highlighted the importance of the visit and its potential to enhance collaboration across key sectors. Addressing the historic nature of the occasion, President Tinubu stated:

“Our bilateral discussions will seek to expand the strategic partnership between both countries and enhance cooperation in critical sectors. Welcome to Nigeria, PM Modi!”

The visit is expected to include high-level meetings, bilateral discussions, and agreements aimed at fostering economic, technological, and cultural ties. Observers note that the visit comes at a crucial time when both nations are seeking to strengthen their global influence and build mutually beneficial partnerships.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit signals a renewed commitment to advancing the shared interests of Nigeria and India, two nations with rich histories and promising futures.
