The Office of the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area, Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has firmly debunked widespread social media claims suggesting that he is preparing to contest for the Kosofe State Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the council described the reports as “entirely false and misleading,” urging members of the public to disregard the narrative in its entirety.
The Chairman’s office noted that while it is appreciative of the growing support and confidence expressed by residents and political stakeholders across Kosofe, such speculations do not reflect the current priorities or intentions of the council leadership.
Barrister Ogunlewe, who was re-elected into office less than a year ago, is said to remain fully committed to the execution of his electoral mandate.
The statement emphasized that his administration is focused on consolidating ongoing developmental projects, improving grassroots governance and sustaining people-oriented initiatives that have defined his tenure.
According to the release, the Chairman’s immediate political engagement is also aligned with supporting the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as part of broader efforts to strengthen governance continuity at the federal level.
The council further appealed to supporters and the general public to desist from spreading unverified political narratives, warning that such distractions could undermine the administration’s focus and misrepresent its strategic direction.
Reiterating gratitude for the goodwill enjoyed by the Chairman, the statement concluded with a call for continued support and cooperation from residents as the local government intensifies efforts to deliver on its promises to the people of Kosofe.
