The Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo today led the agency’s management team on a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

The visit was to formally brief him on LAMATA’S projects and core competencies.

She stated that the agency has been enjoying a good working relationship with the Ministry, stressing that there was the need for the transport family to work in the direction that unifies all transport modes and bring them under regulation.

She informed the new commissioner of the ongoing Bus Industry Transition programme, which is aimed at achieving synergy between regulated and unregulated transport services, noting the Ministry had greatly assisted in the process by ensuring that LAMATA had a good engagement with the informal sector.

She also informed the commissioner of the planned implementation of two interchanges at Marina and Mile 2, four quality bus corridors, the Red line and studies for the Green rail line (Marina to Lekki Free Zone) and Purple Line (Redemption Camp to LASU).

The Commissioner thanked the MD of LAMATA for the brief and assured that the Ministry would support the agency always.

“Your glory is not only yours but that of the Ministry also,” the commissioner said.
