Today, Ibadanland has lost not just a man, but a living institution. A voi that chronicled our history. A pen that defended our heritage. A bridge between generations. Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, has taken his final bow.
His words gave life to history. His service brought honour to Ibadan. His wisdom became a reference point for culture, royalty, governance, and journalism.
There are people whose names become chapters in the story of a city. Oloye Lekan Alabi was one of them.
As the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) joins the entire Ibadanland in mourning this colossal loss, we pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and comforts his family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the media community, and every son and daughter of Ibadan whose life he touched.
Legends do not die. They become history.
