Lagos, Nigeria, July 30 2025, The Nigeria Catchball Federation (NCF) has taken another bold step in grassroots sports development and female empowerment by introducing Catchball to young girls at the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Centre in Mushin.
The event, which attracted notable personalities, was coordinated by Mrs. Kaosara Valentine with the support of Pastor (Mrs.) Tolani Ogundimu from the Ministry of Women Affairs under WAPA. Representing the NCF were Miss Itohan Mercy Imoisili and the President/CEO of the Federation, Engr. Bola Babarinde.

During his address, Engr. Babarinde underscored the many benefits of Catchball, stating that the sport would positively impact the girl child, her family, local communities, and Nigeria as a whole, while also creating opportunities for international exposure.
“We believe Catchball will become a powerful platform for empowering young girls to stay active, dream big, and contribute positively to their communities,” he said.
The young girls in attendance expressed enthusiasm to learn the sport, and the NCF announced that structured training sessions would commence soon to build a solid Catchball community in Mushin and beyond.
The event concluded with group photographs, reflecting the energy and optimism that surrounded the occasion.
