Nigerian Travel Creator Alma Asinobi Sets Sights on World Record with Ambitious 70-Hour Journey to Visit All Continents
Alma Asinobi, a Nigerian travel enthusiast and content creator, is embarking on an extraordinary adventure to visit all seven continents in a record-breaking 70 hours. This remarkable journey, scheduled to begin on March 15, 2025, will take her from Australia to Nigeria, with stops on every continent in between.
Asinobi’s motivation for this challenge extends beyond setting a world record. She aims to highlight the issues surrounding passport privilege, particularly for Africans. Traveling with her Nigerian passport, Asinobi seeks to shed light on the difficulties faced by citizens with low-mobility passports, including lengthy visa application processes and high rejection rates.
In a viral video shared on her Instagram page, Asinobi explained the reasoning behind her bold endeavor: “I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege… When I fully recover from having to apply for more than 10 visas for this trip—and being rejected for two of them a total of five times—I will go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and remain silent about the second-class treatment we are subjected to when it comes to travel and visa requirements for citizens with low-mobility passports.”
Asinobi’s remarkable journey is not only about pushing the limits of her Nigerian passport but also about inspiring others to explore the world despite the limitations imposed by their nationality. Her adventure will also draw attention to the often-overlooked issue of passport privilege, which affects over half of the world’s population, with Africans being among the most impacted.
The current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all continents is held by Indian travelers Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra, who completed the journey in three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds. Asinobi’s ambitious 70-hour journey aims to break this record while raising awareness about the challenges faced by African travelers.
