Again, Ojodu LCDA became a hive of activities as Widow’s Food Bank Initiative was organized as part of the Subsidy Removal palliative measures by the administration of Hon. Segun Odunmbaku.
The event was aimed to improve the conditions of widows and other vulnerable individuals in Ojodu and its surrounding areas.
At the event, widows were provided with free food staples, effectively reducing hunger and alleviating the circumstances of low-income households in Ojodu LCDA.
This effort was undertaken to complement the initiatives of the State and Federal Government in addressing the challenges faced by these individuals.
Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, the Chairperson of Ojodu LCDA, emphasized that the Widow’s Food Bank Initiative was designed to promote the self-sustainability of the beneficiaries.
She further stated that the initiative aligns with the H.E.Y.S (Health, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure) Mission and the Sustainable Development Goals, serving as a means to realize the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen enjoys the dividends of democracy and inclusive grassroots governance.
Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, in his goodwill message during the event, expressed his satisfaction with the increased number of beneficiaries compared to the previous year.
The selection of beneficiaries was based on the recommendations of community stakeholders, and he assured attendees that the number of beneficiaries would be further increased in future events, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to expanding the reach of the initiative.
“As the government closest to the masses, we can feel your plights in the face of the present economic realities. We assure you of our resolve to cater for your needs as much as possible.” Said Odunmbaku
Previously, we supported 100 widows, today we are supporting 200 widows, next time, we shall provide for 300 widows. Likewise, it shall be a recurrent exercise”, the Chairman promised.
