The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adegoke Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. Adegoke was driving her children to school at about 7:30 a.m., regained their freedom after operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) executed a successful rescue mission at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the operation was the culmination of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical deployments aimed at locating the abductors and securing the safe release of the victims.

Police authorities disclosed that investigators meticulously tracked the movements of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation between the criminal gang and FID-IRT operatives. During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the suspects.
The rescue operation ended successfully with Mrs. Adegoke and her twin sons freed unharmed. The victims are currently in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention, care, and psychological support following their traumatic ordeal.
The development has drawn widespread commendation from members of the public and security stakeholders, who praised the professionalism, courage, and operational effectiveness demonstrated by the police team involved in the mission.
The Inspector-General of Police particularly lauded the resilience and dedication of the FID-IRT operatives and all officers who participated in the operation, noting that their commitment was instrumental to the successful rescue of the hostages without casualties.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified manhunt operations across the area to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the confrontation. Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that some fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries while escaping.
Police authorities assured Nigerians that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest all individuals connected with the abduction, emphasizing that every member of the criminal network would be brought to justice.
