Real Madrid has fined both Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni the sum of €500,000 each, the biggest ever fine in the history of Los Blancos, following an altercation between the two midfielders in training.
Tchouameni returned to training on Friday, but Valverde is expected to miss this weekend’s LaLiga clash against Barcelona after suffering a traumatic brain injury caused by the fight.
“Real Madrid C.F. announces that, following the events that led to the opening of disciplinary proceedings against our players Federico Valverde and Aurěen Tchouaméni yesterday, both appeared before the investigating officer today,” the club revealed in an official statement.
“The players apologized to one another and conveyed their deep regret for what transpired during their presentation.
Additionally, they apologized to the club, their colleagues, the coaching staff, and the supporters. They also offered Real Madrid their complete cooperation and were prepared to take any punishment the club saw fit.
“In light of these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to conclude the corresponding internal procedures by fining each player 500,000 euros,” the statement concluded.
