Renewed Hope Global Town Hall Virtual Conference Highlights CNG Initiative

The Renewed Hope Global Town Hall Virtual Conference recently featured Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, Programme Director/Chief Executive of the Presidential CNG Initiative. He discussed the policy’s progress, goals, and benefits, including:

On the CNG Policy Goals he emphasized  that this initiative provides cheaper fuel alternatives, encourage sector investment, and regulate the value chain for transparency and safety.

On the achievements of his organization,  33% of projected one million commercial vehicle conversions, were achieved,  licensing over 250 conversion centers, training 10,000 technicians, and attracting $500 million in investments

On the concerns raised, he advised advised that cylinder valves on every CNG installation must be well fixed to prevent leakage and combustion.

The conference also included remarks from notable attendees, such as the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi.

The key key takeaways are
CNG Benefits: 40% less expensive than petrol, promoting energy mix and economic growth.

His response to Local Content Support was that Federal Government supports CNG vehicles made in Enugu and Onitsha, with plans to build more CNG infrastructures across the country.

On Investment Opportunities he assured the participants that Nigeria is open for business, inviting diasporans and foreign investors to explore opportunities in the sector.

The feedback from conference was encouraging where participants praised the initiative, with some asking questions about safety, registration, and installation processes. The conference aimed to enlighten Nigerians on the Renewed Hope administration’s policies and progress.

The Chief host Ambassador Jacob Kolawole Adebola recognized and appreciateed the presence of VVIP that graced the occasion by mentioning a few of them such as Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Chief of staff of President Bola Tinubu), Dr. Mustapha Abdulahi (Director General Energy Commission of Nigeria and the leaders of renewed hope across the globe, Prof Adesegun Labinjo, Hon. Nick Apata, Engr. Jones Ajimijere, Engr. Bola Babarinde of USA, Canada, Russia and South Africa respectively and others.
