The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lagos Medipark project, a transformative healthcare initiative set to redefine medical services in the state. The event took place at the site of the former Lagos Nursing School, located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi.
The Lagos Medipark project is a trailblazing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) venture between the Lagos State Government and IASO Medipark Ltd., promoted by Iwosan Investments, a proudly Nigerian healthcare investment company renowned for its ownership of Iwosan Lagoon Hospitals.
Envisioned as a comprehensive medical ecosystem, the Lagos Medipark will host a 140-bed multi-specialist hospital equipped with cutting-edge facilities. The project also features a state-of-the-art diagnostics centre, emergency services, essential support infrastructure, residential spaces, training facilities, and commercial and retail medical outlets. This unique setup is designed to foster a self-sustaining healthcare community where people can live, work, and access world-class medical services seamlessly.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the Lagos Medipark project as a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare development agenda. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to leveraging innovative partnerships to deliver accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to Lagosians.
“This project is more than just a hospital; it is a visionary step towards creating a holistic healthcare ecosystem that integrates medical services with residential and commercial facilities. The Lagos Medipark symbolizes our resolve to make Lagos the healthcare destination of choice in Africa,” the governor stated.
The initiative also underscores Lagos State’s growing reputation as a hub for healthcare innovation and investment, providing job opportunities and boosting the local economy while enhancing the quality of life for residents.
With construction set to commence immediately, the Lagos Medipark is expected to serve as a model for other states, further cementing Lagos’ position as a leader in healthcare transformation in Nigeria and beyond.
