Grammy-nominated singer, Angie Stone, died early Saturday morning, March 1, in a car crash. Stone was known for the hit song, “Wish I didn’t Miss You,” and her contributions to the hip-hop trio The Sequence.
The crash happened in Montgomery, Alabama. A rep for the singer told The Associated Press the 63-year-old was coming from a show from a Mardi Gras ball in Mobile, Alabama, with her band members and background singers when her van overturned. Stone was the only person who died in the accident.
The association that hosted the Mardi Gras ball expressed their condolences to Stone’s family and friends on a Facebook post. They said her performance captivated the audience.
“Angie’s performance at the 2025 Grand Marshal’s Ball was nothing short of phenomenal. Her talent captivated everyone in attendance, and her presence truly elevated the event. Never could we have imagined that it would be the last time we would have the honor of witnessing her perform,” the post read.
