The Renewed Hope Global Town Hall Virtual Conference: A Resounding Success
The Renewed Hope Global Town Hall Virtual Conference has once again achieved a monumental success, hosting a revealing session on tackling fake foods and pharmaceuticals in Nigeria. The conference, which took place yesterday, featured the Iron Lady of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, as the special guest.
The conference organizers express their deepest gratitude to the hundreds of participants who joined the conference and the millions of followers who watched the live stream on BEN TV, Facebook, and other social media channels.
Prof. Moji Adeyeye’s Remarkable Achievements
Prof. Adeyeye, the Director General of NAFDAC, shared her remarkable journey, highlighting the challenges she faced when she assumed office in 2017. She recounted how she met an agency with only a roof on the building, a debt of N3.7 billion, and non-functional equipment. Despite these challenges, she has transformed NAFDAC, setting the stage for its transition toward WHO Maturity Level 4 and World Listed Authority status.
Under her leadership, NAFDAC has introduced several initiatives to expand access to high-quality medicines, including the 5+5 policy promoting local manufacturing and the expansion of NAFDAC’s ceiling list to 34 products. The agency has also collaborated with other agencies to facilitate speedy exports of local produce.
Threats and Challenges
Despite facing threats to her life and her operatives, Prof. Adeyeye remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians from the menace of fake and illicit drugs. She emphasized that the agency’s efforts must be sustained for the benefit of the country and its youth.
