Los Angeles, CA – South African singer Tyla has once again made history at the 2026 Grammy Awards, securing her second win in the Best African Music Performance category. This year, Tyla’s song “Push 2 Start” earned her the prestigious award, solidifying her status as a leading voice in contemporary African music. The category, introduced in 2024 to celebrate the continent’s diverse sounds, saw Tyla’s win over a field of highly acclaimed artists.

The competition was fierce, with Nigerian stars Burna Boy (“Love”), Davido (“With You” featuring Omah Lay), and Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”) all vying for the prize. Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love” also earned a nomination. Despite the strong competition, Tyla’s “Push 2 Start” resonated with voters, showcasing her innovative sound and undeniable talent.

Tyla’s back-to-back wins highlight the growing global recognition of African music and her significant contribution to the genre. Her victory serves as an inspiration for other African artists, demonstrating the potential for international success and the importance of celebrating the rich musical heritage of the continent.
