The ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) has vowed that by 6pm the Presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory will be done and dusted. The Director, Diaspora Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council PCC, Prince Ade Omole made this vow on Monday, February 20th 2023 in Abuja while speaking with journalists at the national press conference held at the national secretariat of the party.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections for 2023 have been scheduled to hold on Saturday, the 25th of February 2023. Omole said more than 1.5 million Nigerians with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are outside the country, returning back to vote for Asiwaju at the forthcoming general election.

“We are Nigerians, though we live outside the country, we have families in the country, we have sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers and some have employees in the country. Nigerians in the Diaspora matter a great deal, not just because of the amount of money we remit to the country annually, which equals the amount from the sale of crude oil. But, because we are also stakeholders in the electoral process, there are many Nigerians in the Diaspora who are registered voters,’’ Omole said.

He added that the Directorate had reached an agreement with British Airways and Lufthansa Airline to offer special discounts tickets to Nigerians who are returning for voting purpose, irrespective of party affiliation to make travelling cheaper for them. He also stated that the Directorate had been dissecting Tinubu’s Action Plan for Nigerians to understand it better and had also put up a web portal, with the address: Teamtinubushettima.com. Noting that the repository portal had the profiles of Asiwaju Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima, his running mate, and all that Nigerians needed to know about them, he said that the essence of the portal was to correct the erroneous narratives about Tinubu and Shettima that had been circulating on social media and counter the fake news with the facts.

While concluding his statement he said “I strongly believe that by 6 pm on Saturday, the 25th of February, we will be celebrating the election. Remember we can actually view the result in real-time online. Yes, INEC may still take their time because they have to do the collation obviously, officially, but I strongly believe that this election would be done and dusted by 6pm.”
