Nigeria’s Falconets have been placed in Group F of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at the ceremony that took place in Lodz, Poland, on Friday, officially setting the stage for the group phase of the competition.
The group presents a challenging test for the Falconets, who will face Spain and China, both established teams in women’s youth football, while also preparing for their encounter with New Caledonia.
Nigeria has previously finished as runners-up twice, showing strong performances over the years but falling just short of lifting the trophy, and will be aiming to make history by winning the tournament for the first time.
Remarkably, Nigeria has never missed a single edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, highlighting the country’s consistency and strength at the youth level in women’s football.
The tournament will be held in Poland from the 5th to the 27th of September 2026, with matches scheduled across four host cities: Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Lodz, and Gdynia, as teams prepare for the global competition.
