The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on today held a strategic engagement with women and youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress from across the state, stressing the importance of unity, inclusion, and grassroots participation in shaping the future of Lagos.

The meeting, which brought together key party stakeholders and mobilisers from different local governments and LCDAs, focused on strengthening the party’s structure, deepening youth and women participation in governance, and sustaining the developmental strides of the state.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Hamzat said the future of the ruling party must remain closely tied to the aspirations and welfare of ordinary Lagosians, noting that sustainable progress can only be achieved through collective responsibility and inclusive leadership.
According to him, the discussion centered not only on the future of the APC, but also on the kind of society and opportunities that must be created for coming generations.
“Today, I also spent time with our APC women and youth leaders from across Lagos State. We spoke about the future of our party, but more importantly, the future of Lagos and the kind of state we want our children to inherit,” he said.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that Lagos has continued to thrive because of its unity, resilience, and people-centered approach to governance, adding that the administration remains committed to ensuring that no segment of society is left behind.

He further assured party members that efforts would continue toward building a Lagos where young people are empowered to pursue greater opportunities, while women are supported to achieve economic growth and leadership advancement.
“Lagos moves forward when we stay united and keep the needs of ordinary people at the center of every decision. That remains my commitment,” Hamzat stated.
Reaffirming his dedication to inclusive governance, the Deputy Governor noted that more work still lies ahead, but expressed confidence that with collaboration and shared vision, Lagos would continue to witness greater development and prosperity.
“There is still work ahead, but together, we can build an even greater Lagos for everyone,” he added.
The engagement is seen as part of ongoing consultations and mobilization efforts within the APC ahead of future political activities in the state, while also reinforcing the party’s grassroots connection with women and youths, widely regarded as critical pillars of electoral success and governance sustainability in Lagos.
