The Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque (LSCCM), under the leadership of its Chairman, Engr. Abdulhafiz Gbolahan Toriola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, on Friday, June 6, 2026, successfully hosted the 13th Edition of its annual Eid-ul-Adha (Ileya) Children’s Get-Together Party at the premises of the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja.

The event, themed “From Guidance to Greatness: Nurturing Responsible Muslim Youths,” brought together hundreds of Muslim children, parents, scholars and distinguished guests in a celebration designed to promote the moral, intellectual and spiritual development of young Muslims while commemorating the Eid-ul-Adha festivities.
The colourful gathering featured an enriching blend of educational, spiritual and recreational activities carefully designed to instill Islamic values, leadership qualities, discipline and positive character traits in participating children.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, represented Mrs Karimot Onigbanjo and eminent personalities including Mrs. Amudat Garubadeen-Adedeji of the Lagos Audit Service Commission and Barrister Tawakalitu Toriola, wife of the LSCCM Chairman.
A major highlight of the programme was the insightful lectures delivered by seasoned educators and Islamic scholars. The Chairman of the LACCM Mission Board, Dr. Saad Ahmad, engaged the teenage participants on the importance of personal responsibility, good character and adherence to Islamic teachings as pathways to future success. Similarly, Alhaja Khadija Omotosho, Chief Education Officer of Mende Senior High School, delivered an age-appropriate and inspiring lecture to the pre-teen participants, emphasizing obedience, discipline, academic excellence and respect for parents and elders.
The event also featured intellectually stimulating activities including Qur’an recitation competitions, Islamic quizzes, educational games and interactive sessions that encouraged learning while fostering healthy competition among the children.
Beyond the educational and spiritual engagements, participants were treated to a variety of fun-filled recreational activities. Children enjoyed table tennis competitions, bouncing castles, toy train rides and other exciting attractions that transformed the mosque premises into a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and learning.

To further enhance the festive experience, various gift items and souvenirs were distributed to participating children, bringing smiles to their faces and creating memorable moments for families in attendance.
Parents and guardians who attended the programme with their children commended the organisers for sustaining the initiative over the years. They expressed admiration for the quality of organisation, the relevance of the programme’s content and the positive impact it continues to have on participating children.

Many parents noted the remarkable improvements recorded in the planning and execution of the event over the years, describing it as one of the most anticipated annual family-oriented Islamic programmes within the Secretariat community. They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and participating in future editions.

Speaking on the objectives of the initiative, the Women Leader of the Lagos State Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Bldr. Abdulhamid Jemilat Temilade explained that the annual programme was conceived to foster the moral, intellectual and spiritual growth of Muslim children.

According to her, the mosque remains committed to promoting wholesome family values and strengthening the foundation of responsible citizenship among young Muslims.
She noted that the yearly gathering provides a unique platform where children can learn, interact and develop themselves in a safe, entertaining and spiritually enriching environment that contributes positively to their overall well-being.
She further emphasized that nurturing children with sound Islamic principles remains critical to building a future generation of responsible leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
The successful hosting of the 13th edition of the “Eid-ul-Adha Children’s Get-Together” once again underscores the commitment of the Lagos State Secretariat Community Central Mosque to youth development, family cohesion and the promotion of Islamic values, while creating memorable experiences that combine education, spirituality and recreation for the younger generation.
