
The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the cost of nomination forms, setting N60m as the official price for the presidential nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.
According to a timetable made public by the party, candidates for governor would pay N30 million, while those running for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats will also have to pay various fees.
The timetable was contained in a statement issued by the party’s national secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, and national chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe.
The party stated that the sale of expression of interest forms for all positions will start on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026. Before candidates can purchase nomination forms, they must go through screening and interviews between May 19 and May 21. The sale of nomination forms will take place from May 21 to May 23, and completed forms must be turned in by May 25 at the latest.

According to the schedule, the party’s presidential primary election will take place in Abuja on May 29, 2026. The party clarified that candidates for governorships would be screened at the local government level, candidates for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their respective states, and National Assembly and presidential candidates would be screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

In order to increase credibility and openness, the party also declared that it will employ the “open secret ballot” system during the primaries.
According to the party’s approved fees, candidates for president must pay N20 million for the expression of interest form and N40 million for the nomination form, for a total of N60 million.
The Expression of Interest Form costs N10 million, while the Nomination Form costs N20 million.
Candidates for House of Representatives seats must pay N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form, while candidates for Senate seats are required to pay N3 million and N5 million, respectively.
State House of Assembly candidates will pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form as contained in the statement. The party claimed that its nomination fees are among the lowest of the nation’s major political parties. The NDC also announced concessions for women and people with disabilities, stating that female candidates will pay 50% of the approved fees, while people with disabilities will receive a 75% waiver across all categories. The statement further stated that the party is still dedicated to producing qualified candidates before the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, its nomination fees are among the lowest of the nation’s main political parties.
