The National Democratic Congress, NDC, held its congress today and elected new state executives in Plateau State, with Solomon Ndam emerging as chairman.
Delegates, stakeholders, and party supporters nationwide attended the congress in Jos, the state capital, where the election was held.
Party leader Jonathan Sunday Akuns declared the congress open and stated that the NDC is still dedicated to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
He pointed out that the party’s plans would take into account the various demands of the state’s communities.
Ndam became the new state chairman after the election, which party officials called transparent.
Ndam promised to give grassroots mobilisation and party unity top priority in his acceptance address.
He stated that despite tackling major issues like unemployment, instability, and societal divisions, his leadership will concentrate on bolstering the party’s structure at the local level.
Ndam also voiced optimism about the party’s chances ahead of the general elections in 2027, pointing to rising membership and support.
He claimed that the party’s membership has significantly increased, with over 250,000 new members signing up in a brief amount of time.
Party members were urged to unite and work together by other event stakeholders.
The newly elected executives pledged at the end of the congress to increase grassroots involvement and broaden the party’s reach throughout the state.
